Song For My Grandfather

Photo: Arne S. Gjone

This newspaper clip of my grandfather
is from 1952.
I found this and the original photo in my father's belongings.
I decided to dedicate this album to him.
His name was Hans Hansen.
born in 1871 and died in 1954.
He was a carpenter, and when he had a free time he went fishing. He never came home with his fishing bag empty.
Together with my grandmother they made 13 children. My father was the last, born in 1913.
My grandmother, Josefine Caroline, had her own flower shop and was the leader of the women's liberation movement.
She loved the famous Italian Tenor: Enrico Caruso, and played his records on an old wind up gramophone.

The Beauty in Imperfection [wabi sabi]
The term wabi sabi remains difficult to translate. For Japanese people, wabi sabi is a feeling, more than a concept, that can be found in classical Japanese aesthetics: flower arrangement, literature, philosophy, poetry, tea ceremony, Zen gardens, music etc.
Wabi sabi goes against contemporary over-consumption, but also encourages simplicity and authenticity in everything.
Wabi sabi truly encapsulates a unique perspective on beauty – one that values the imperfect, the aged, and the fleeting moments. It's a philosophy that encourages us to find value in simplicity, authenticity, and the natural course of things.

A Touch
The title of the new album is: “A Touch”, a small amount or a hint of something.
It implies a subtle presence or influence.
For example, adding a touch of cinnamon to your coffee, or a touch of rhythm in music is like the heartbeat or pulse that gives a piece its sense of movement and energy.
It’s the pattern of sounds and silences that unfold over time. Accented and Unaccented Beats. Imagine tapping your foot to a song—that’s following the rhythm!

Crossings of the Past
This album contributes by translating the emotional journey of migration into music — capturing the resilience, hope, and transformative power of crossing from one world into another.
A reflection of the migrations that have shaped and will continue to shape music, communities, and identities around the world.
Dedicated to “Crossings 200” 200 Years of Migration
"Crossings 200" is a year-long celebration marking 200 years of migration to and from Norway. The theme emphasizes both historical emigration from Norway and the contemporary immigration to Norway. The initiative invites reflection on the stories of migration, the challenges faced by individuals and families, and the richness that migration brings to society.

“Double Image” the latest album from SvanZini, inspired by the quiet but powerful
moments when creativity strikes, in the early morning, in the shower, or during
a walk outside.
This project captures the feeling of ideas forming naturally,
almost unexpectedly, turning everyday reflections into layered soundscapes.
The feeling of seeing life from two perspectives at once Morning clarity vs. nighttime introspectio Spontaneous inspiration becoming structured musi • The contrast between inner thoughts and outer reality • The feeling of seeing life from two perspectives at once • Morning clarity vs. nighttime introspection • Spontaneous inspiration becoming structured music
The title reflects how creativity can feel like, looking into a mirror,
one image grounded in reality, the other shaped by imagination.
